Back in September, in a tent just outside the Virginia Historical Society, we were lucky enough to be a part of Allison and Matt’s big day. This wedding had it all: an eight-foot floral chandelier, an aisle made completely out of petals, and even a New Orleans style second-line parade!
Second-line parades are a popular way to celebrate everything from store openings to carnivals in The Big Easy, but they are most commonly associated with our favorite thing: weddings!
This was one of the 3 biggest floral orders in 2016, but at KMD we love a good challenge! Strand after strand of flowers in varying shades of deep maroon cascaded from the ceiling. The two-tiered “chandelier” they hung from added the perfect amount of drama, and created the most amazing backdrop for pictures!
Hundreds of petals leading up to such a showstopper really drew the eye in and helped set the scene for an unforgettable ceremony!
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts made the perfect background to compliment the deep read and gold tones running throughout the reception.
Smaller, more minimalistic centerpieces on the tables let the room feel open and airy while still staying true to the theme. The big glass windows throughout the VMFA made for incredible lighting that slowly transitioned as the sun set.
It’s almost a year later, and we still can’t stop thinking about how beautiful and unique Allison and Matt’s wedding was!
